THE ORIGINAL BAILS (HANDLES) WERE OF CAST IRON OR HAND FORGED
STEEL AND SOME WERE BRONZE AND SOME SEVERAL HUNDRED YEAR OLD. MANY FINISHES CAN BE HAD IN SEVERAL METALS INQUIRE.
I'VE RETAINED IN MY BAILS ALL THE SUBTLETIES OF THE HAND FORGED IMPINGEMENTS TO KEEP THE LOOK AND FEEL OF THE ORIGINALS.

THE BACKPLATES ARE CUSTOM SLOTTED TO FIT CHOICE OF HANDLE THIS LABOR IS INCLUDED IN THE BACKPLATE COST. ALSO THE STRAPS (USED FOR MOUNTING THE HANDLES) ARE CUSTOM FIT TO THE HANDLE AND BACKPLATE IF A BACKPLATE OR DISK BACK IS USED.

These 499 mokkos are really victorian adaptations but clearely mokkos
No. 415 set of chamfer chest coin disk lock plates this is a split type
disk or can be solid plate.
1195 is a simplier version of 1058 made due to popular demand it is
5.75" long by 7/8" tall
Beveled edge not shown in these 3 pages just the basic shape is

Shown unfinished and ready to either brown rust or for a hot oil
black patina . Also shown undrilled customer can advise on how they
want holes to be placed and how large .This drilling is included in

To keep the rivets strong on the backs and have a good mushroom over
the beveled hole They protrude approx .025 threw .035 and dimples are
recommended put in the wood hidden behind the front hinge plate .
Here is the inspiration of hinge 1175 shown on a typical fancy tansu safe door .This is shown with a hot oil black patina Traditionally they used rape seed oil to do these patinas which is really canola oil . Today me and most folks use used black motor oil the blacker the better ,the carbon deposits in the oil produce a beautiful lustrous and durable finish that is very rust proof .
The China split disk comes in two versions the 5.5" version shown here 1178 and a 8.5" version 1177 .The picture shown here
is 1178 small copy custom punched and fitted with a part no. 1047 drop ring. The patina is hot oil carbon black, the straps are blued steel and look dull black .
